Wednesday, January 22, 2025, is the 14th annual Bell Let’s Talk Day. The Bell Let's Talk campaign was launched with the goal of “raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness in Canada”. The annual Bell Let’s Talk Day and awareness campaign has become the world’s largest conversation about mental health. Over the years, Bell Let’s Talk has donated over 121 million dollars to mental health in Canada through the funding of programs, research, and other avenues. This year the focus of Bell Let’s Talk efforts and funds is youth mental health because a recent study found that youth mental health is on a serious decline (more information can be found here: https://www.mhrc.ca/youth-mental-health).
Bell Let’s Talk strives to reach its goals through 4 pillars. The first pillar is anti-stigma. Talking about mental health is an important first step to ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. The second pillar is care and access. Bell Let’s Talk, provides funds to a variety of organizations throughout Canada that provide mental health supports and services. The third pillar is research, with Bell Lets Talk donating and partnering with organizations to conduct research in the hopes of better understanding treatments and solutions. The final pillar is workplace leadership. Bell Canada aims to lead by example in workplace culture surrounding mental health with most leaders and employees completing mental health training.
